UW Undergraduate Course: Designing for Human Flourishing

I taught a ten-week undergraduate course at the University of Washington during the Fall of 2019. The goal of this class was to introduce skills and practices for students to explore what flourishing looks like for them and the undergraduate community. Over the course of ten weeks, we used contemplative practices like mindfulness to observe, introspect, and better understand ourselves. Students used these observations to identify times throughout the week when they engaged unintentionally, out of default behaviors. The students then developed ideas that could support them in being more mindful in their day to day lives. Many of them struggled with technology addiction and designed tools to support themselves in anchoring to the moment and making more intentional choices.

Teach for IndiA: Director of Data

Teach for India is a nonprofit organization based in Bombay that serves over 30,000 students. As the director of data, I implemented a monitoring and evaluation system to collect, analyze, and disseminate the academic data of every student. I built multivariate regression models to determine the predictors of academic achievement, which were then used by Teach for India to focus limited resources. Furthermore, I identified summer as a season where students lose about 1.3 months of learning and helped implement a summer growth program which eliminated the loss in learning the following summer.

Gateway Center: Digital Literacy Instructor

The Gateway Center is a temporary housing shelter for unhoused individuals in Atlanta. I designed, managed, and taught a 12-week course that introduced older adults to digital literacy skills such as typing, mouse navigation, and email. As a final project, I mentored students to write and present their own stories using Microsoft PowerPoint. A total of fifteen students completed this course in 2021 and 2022.
